About me
I am an Assistant Professor in structural geology and metamorphic petrology at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. I am particularly interested in geodynamic processes occurring at convergent plate boundaries and the role these have on the formation of mineral deposits.
I am originally from Liverpool in the UK, and my interest in geology sparked through a fascination of the natural world we live in, particularly how and why mountains formed. I completed my undergraduate degree, and a DPhil in Earth Sciences at the University of Oxford in 2018, where I investigated the pre-extensional evolution of the Cycladic Islands (Naxos and Tinos) in the Eastern Mediterranean. I then undertook a postdoc at the University of St Andrews with Richard White investigating metamorphic processes in subduction zones and orogenic belts (2019-2021), followed by a BHP funded postdoc at the University of Bristol (2021-2024) where I investigated the tectonic controls on the formation of porphyry copper deposits in the SW USA.
My website provides resources, articles, and information for students and professionals interested in learning more about the fascinating field of geology. I am always looking for motivated students and collaborators. Join me and explore the wonders of the Earth! :)
Exploring Earth's Dynamic Processes
My website is dedicated to providing comprehensive and up-to-date information on my resarch group's work and helpful resources to promote interest in the fascinating field of geology. My goal is to educate and engage individuals of all ages and backgrounds in the study of Earth's processes and history. My site offers a wide range of resources including articles, videos, and interactive activities that cover topics such as plate tectonics and mineralogy. I strive to make complex concepts accessible and enjoyable for all, whether you are a professional geologist or simply curious about the wonders of our planet.
